Shirley Coffey Robinson, of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on January 8, 2014 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. She was born on April 26, 1915 in Fall River, MA. Her parents were Joseph and Helen Coffey. She graduated from Medford Massachusetts High School in 1933. She became a registered nurse at Cambridge Hospital, MA in 1935. During World War II, she joined the U.S. Armed Services as an Army Nurse, and rose to the rank of Captain. While serving in England, she met Francis W. Robinson, Jr. ("Pat"), who was a Major in the Army. They married on March 10, 1945 in Henley, UK. Shirley and Pat, President of Boler Petroleum Co., made their home and raised their family in Chester Springs and Ithan, PA. Shirley was an avid bridge player, enjoyed travel and loved antiques. She operated an antique store in King of Prussia. She was also a dedicated volunteer of numerous organizations, including Meals on Wheels and Contact, a suicide hotline. Her husband Pat and her brothers Joseph Coffey of Norwich, MA and William Coffey of Marshfield Hills, MA predeceased her. Shirley is survived by her five children-Francis W. of Burlington, VT; Elizabeth C. (O'Connell) of Newtown Square, PA; William S. of Paoli, PA; Christopher J. of Haverford, PA; and Anne B. (Frey) of Philadelphia, PA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney, Gladwyne, PA. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m., West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, PA. Reception to follow at Beaumont Retirement Village, Bryn Mawr, PA.
