MERIDEN - John A. Kasey, 91, died on Monday, May 25, 2009, at Masonicare in Wallingford. He was the husband of Dorothy J. (Kenny) Kasey, his loving wife of 66 years. 

 
Born on June 25, 1917, in Beckley, W. Va., John was the son of the late John G. and Pearl (Aliff) Kasey. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic for the 304th Station Hospital. On occasion John was a driver for General George Patton. A longtime resident of Meriden, he was a parishioner of Holy Angels Church. John was employed as an annealer, at the Miller Company from where he retired after 43 years of service. 

He was a member and past president of the local and county Ancient Order of Hibernians. John enjoyed repairing jewelry, reupholstering furniture and tailoring. He was also a watchmaker, a skill he acquired while stationed in Germany. 

 

Besides his beloved wife Dorothy, John is survived by his two daughters, Terry Grabiec and her husband, Andrew, of Cheshire and Kathy Kasey, of South Meriden; two grandchildren, Darin Cessario, Andrew Grabiec III; six great grandchildren, Joseph Grabiec, Dylan Cessario, Emily Cessario, Blake Cessario, Tyler Cessario, Jenna Ann Grabiec; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Johna Ann Grabiec; and a sister, Virginia Houle. 

 

His funeral will be held on Friday, May 29, at 10:15 a.m. from the Stempien Funeral Home, 450 Broad St., Meriden followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Church. Burial with military honors will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, May 28 from 2 until 8 p.m. at the Stempien Funeral Home.
