WINSTED Edward J. Morton, 82, of Maloney Court, died Sunday, July 3, at Valerie Manor Health Care Center in Torrington, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mary (Lampognana) Morton.

Mr. Morton was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Winsted, son of the late Joseph and Charlotte (John) Morton, and lived there all his life. He graduated from the Gilbert School in 1942, and worked as a plumber for Hamilton Standard for 27 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 296.

Besides his wife of 56 years, he leaves a son, Edward of Winsted; a daughter, Virginia Shockey of Waynesboro, Pa.l a sister, Elizabeth Sinnott of Bristol; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Mass 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut St., is in charge of arrangements.
